The village was and still is the primarily keeper of Christian or pre-Christian traditions, and the world of which the Romanian peasant is a part of has always been rich in customs and traditions. Bucharest Airports National Company expressed, at every opportunity, support and respect for Romanian customs and traditions, hosting in its terminals the best known bearers of authentic folklore. This time, Henri Coandă Airport greeted passengers with a fair attended by artisans from around the country, true bearers of Romanian culture and values.

CNAB continued its partnership with the Village Museum and organized on April 11th, a new edition of the fair dedicated to the celebration of Palm Sunday, the Departures Terminal being enveloped in a specific rural atmosphere. ”Ciocârlia” folk band and dancers held an original folk show that attracted passengers and employees alike. The exhibition of traditional objects from "Dimitrie Gusti" National Village Museum collections completed the festive atmosphere, showing a rich craftsmanship of the Romanian Peasant, both in decorating fabrics and embroidery, as well as obtaining vibrant herbal colors.

At the fair, passengers could admire the artistry of traditional craftsmen who held on spot special demonstrations of pottery, lacing, egg painting, glass and wood icons painting, woodcarving, knitting, and the art of leather shoes manufacturing.

Being one of the last craftsmen in the country, master Ilinca told us he learned the handicraft at home where, according to an ancient tradition, the craft is handed down from father to son. He spoke with emotion about the history of these handmade leather shoes, we discovered that sandals are inherited from the Dacians and were mostly worn in the countryside.

And because we like to surprise passengers every great celebration, they received handmade souvenirs offered by Bucharest Airports National Company (beads and Maramures straw hats) and were invited to taste Easter beverages and traditional products (sponge cake and cheese bread).
