Henri Coanda International Airport - in the top of the European airports with highest air traffic growth in the first quarter of 2016

Henri Coanda International Airport ranks fourth among the European airports which have shown the best air traffic growth in the first quarter of 2016, as announced by Airports Council International-Europe, for the category of airports that have between 5 and 10 million passengers.


Henri Coanda International Airport ranks fourth among the European airports which have shown the best air traffic growth in the first quarter of 2016, as announced by Airports Council International-Europe, for the category of airports that have between 5 and 10 million passengers.

The first four places in this group were taken by Berlin Schoenefeld Airport, Faro-Algarve (Portugal) and Bucharest Henri Coanda, followed by Porto Airport.

 

During January-March, the top of airports with more than 25 million passengers per year is: Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen, Dublin, Barcelona El Prat, Copenhagen and Amsterdam. The 10 to 25 million passengers/year category ranks Bonn Cologne, Alicante, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Athens, whereas the category under 5 million passengers per year displays: Liege (Belgium ), Ohrid (Macedonia), Ostend-Bruges (Belgium), Santorini (Greece) and Oradea.

In the first quarter of 2016, Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport recorded 2.140.750 passengers and 23.719 aircraft movements (landings and takeoffs). As compared to the same time last year, the number of passengers who transited AIHCB between January-March 2016 increased by 18,4%. The evolution of the passengers’ number on Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport significantly exceeds the general European trend of 7,8%.

Furthermore, the number of aircraft movements increased on Henri Coanda International Airport, going beyond the European trend, which reached 4%. Thus, in the first quarter of the year, the number of aircraft movements increased by 10.1% as compared to the same time last year.
