Safe travel!

Bucharest Airports has made and is making every effort to process safely all passengers crossing the terminals of Henri Coanda Airport.

The alignment with the mandatory new international regulations on the security and border control has led to an important increase in processing times.

In order to maintain an adequate degree of comfort, Bucharest Airports has added - up to doubling - the number of border checkpoints and security control lines and has continuously cooperated with state institutions, in particular the Border Police which has also supplemented their staff at the airport.

However, in the context of the spectacular increase in the number of flights scheduled in peak hours - line or charter flights - agglomerations of passenger flows occurred, average waiting times for security and border checks up to 35 minutes and in the Departures Terminal being processed up to 3000 passengers per hour.

Under these circumstances, we recommend that passengers who have scheduled flights in peak hours, especially those departing from 5.00 to 8.00 am, and also in the afternoons, should arrive at the airport three hours before the flight.

A similar recommendation has been repeatedly addressed to airlines and their handling agents to open a sufficient number of check-in counters and provide their own staff according with the number of flights they have scheduled at peak hours.

We note that air traffic values at Henri Coanda Airport increased by more than 20% over the same period last year and by almost 50% compared to 2015.

Bucharest Airports will continue to implement the de-congestion measures at peak hours, measures that may prove ineffective if other and other flishts are scheduled at these times.
