2022 Air Traffic at Bucharest Airports

During 2022, the air traffic on Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport and Bucharest Băneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport recorded 12.610.247 passengers (a 82.2% raise as compared to 2021) and 120.745 aircraft movements (landings and take offs), a 30,7% raise as compared to the previous year).

The overall number of passengers in 2022 is thus approaching the peak we had in 2019 (14.8 million passengers), representing over 85% of it. As for the number of aircraft movements, it represents approx. 83% of the record value of 145,002 registered in 2019.

Out of this total, 12,601,679 passengers and 102,136 aircraft movements were recorded at Henri Coandă Airport.

The traffic figures in 2022 are higher than forecast, and this happened throughout the commercial aviation, indicating a faster recovery than expectated after the two pandemic years (2021 – 2022) when both airports and airlines were severely affected, as well as related businesses.
