National Company Bucharest Airports

Relay day

For the fifth consecutive year, Bucharest Airports National Company and its partners from the civil society celebrated the International Children's Rights Day, offering yet again a memorable experience for children that visited Bucharest ”Henri Coandă” International Airport. Thus, on November 24, 2016 we celebrated "Relay Day" when 31 children from schools in Râmnicu Vâlcea and Bucharest fulfilled their dream of becoming, for one day, a marshaller at ”Henri Coandă” Airport.
We began our visit at the airport by asking children what they want to do when they grow up. We received different replies, from airline pilot or flight attendant to towing equipment operator or airport marshaller. It was the perfect time to introduce the children to Mr. Octavian Berleanu, Head of Ground Traffic Control at Henri Coandă International Airport and this year’s mentor for "Relay Day".
Tavi - Tango, Alpha, Victor, India - is an excellent professional, he coordinates aircraft on ground since they land on the airport until departure and manages the snow removal and de-icing activities on the apron. He detailed his duties to the 31 children that visited the airport: Tavi spoke about escorting aircraft to a standstill, aircraft parking, about the management and allocation of positions for stationary aircraft, about towing activities and many others. Tavi has fulfilled his role of mentor with great sense of responsibility and answered countless questions coming from the 31 young visitors about the problems and challenges he faces every day.
We are happy that we could join a project with such an ambitious vision, and that we had the opportunity to offer every child a chance to influence and contribute to important decisions of his life and the community in which he lives. CNAB offered again a memorable experience to the young visitors, showing them how one can turn work into passion.
