CNAB performed the acceptance of the modernization works for "Delta" taxiway

Starting with Monday, July 13, 2020, Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport can use “Delta” runway again, which has undergone an extensive modernization process, the entire road structure being replaced, and the sidewalks and connections with runway 1 (08R -26L) and with other roads being widened in order to comply with the requirements of Regulation (EC) 139/2014.

“Delta” taxiway has a load-bearing width of 23 meters, being framed by sidewalks of 10.50, respectively 7.50 meters wide; after the modernization, the taxiway has PCN (Pavement Classification Number) 83, identical to that of runway 1. The lighting system has also been modernized. As a result of the modernization, this runway can ensure the unrestricted taxiing of Category E aircraft (Boeing 777-300 has been taken into account).

The works for the objective “Rehabilitation of Delta taxiway and upgrading the PCN at PDA1 level (including the Delta - Papa - Charlie intersection and widenings in the inflection areas) and the related lighting systems”, with the total value of 28 million lei (design and execution), lasted 8 months, of which 2 months the design alone, and were completed within the term provided in the contract.

By completing and making "Delta" taxiway operational, runway 1 can be used at full capacity. At the same time, the modernization works on runway 2 (08L-26R), amounting to 127.4 million lei, works contracted in June 2019 and whose execution is to last for 8 months (the technical project is already being received) can begin; during these works, all airport traffic can be taken over by runway 1.
