Regular air traffic was not affected; all the flights took off and landed according to the flights schedule. There were also thousands of supporters who arrived on regular flights.

On Henri Coanda Airport all the conditions for good ongoing air traffic operations were met, as a result of the good cooperation of the airport administration with Bucharest City Hall and all the other institutions involved in the organization of the UEFA Europa League Final.

A number of 25,000 fans are estimated to go through Henri Coanda Airport, out of which 15,000 today. It is worth mentioning that the average number of passengers arriving in a regular air traffic day is 10,000.

Concerning some information quoted by the Romanian press of the Spanish newspaper El Correo, regarding an alleged capacity limitation on BHCIA and changing operating hours by the airport, we make the following specifications:
- all requests for slots allocations (operating program) were promptly solved by the airport, identifying and allocating slots, including additional ones;
- no allocated slot was modified by the airport;
- the responsibility for any program changes of the timetable or delays of charter flights belongs entirely to charter flights airline carrier.

Consolidation works at BB-AV IA passenger terminal | 05.03.2012

Bucharest Băneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport passenger terminal, declared in 2011 monument of national and worldwide historical importance by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage has entered the process of rehabilitation and implementation of a City Airport concept.

First stage of the modernization of Baneasaairport infrastructure has been completed in December 2011 with the rehabilitation and modernization of the General Aviation Terminal ("Building C") at the highest international standards of quality, safety and comfort.

The next stage of the program initiated by the airport administration requires modernization of the other three buildings of BBIA (Rotunda, "A" and "B"), currently used for processing low-cost air traffic.

In the preliminary phase of this stage, a technical expertise of the three buildings has been carried out and was completed in February 2012. It resulted in framing the buildings within a seismic risk class. Consequently, several measures provisioned by the legislation in force have been taken, including announcing the authorities (Ministry of Transports, Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, The Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, The City Hall, the State Inspectorate for Construction), as well as the start of the consolidation process.

Given the status of historical monument of BBIA, Bucharest Airports National Company, as airport administrator, adopted a contingency plan, in conformity with the law. This plan includes, in addition to consolidation works (carrying out of concrete walls, coating the pillars, etc.) also other works necessary to preserve the structure of the buildings and to bring out into relief their original appearance (the facade work, carpentry, heat insulation, terraces, roof of the rotunda).

Tendering procedure for awarding the design and implementation of intervention works on the three buildings of BBIA AV will start shortly.
